The first week of my Strides for Justice challenge to run 60 miles to raise money for my Mother’s legal defense campaign went better than I could have imagined. Monday I felt great and Tuesday…well, I could not feel my hands or face when I finished (it has been freezing this week) but it is surprising how much different I feel about 4 miles compared to a month ago. Thursday was fun – I wanted to give myself a bit of a break since I have been so busy so I soared home as fast as I could.
While I am clearly improving I can feel my body asking for rest. Between running, biking, volleyball, and a lot of volunteering I had been up and going all day every day for almost two weeks. Most days I have to force myself to start running but its worth it. If my mom can work two jobs with little sleep because she is stressing about court… I sure as hell can do this.

If you are also into running, biking, or other activities you can follow me on Strava. I don’t bother with the paid version but the workout tracking, ability to see friends’ training, and challenges are helpful and fun.
